Performance: The Unison Piece by Jonathan Burrows & Matteo Fargion
Choreographer Jonathan Burrows and composer Matteo Fargion have been collaborating for over 35 years, creating a body of inter-disciplinary work celebrated for its intelligence, openness and humour. At Norma T the two artists will share their new performance, which they have been working on for two years. 'The Unison Piece' is an investigation, critique and celebration of doing things together in time, performed at a table with two electric guitars.
This event is organized in collaboration with Bøler Samvirkelag, with whom the two artists are currently collaborating (

Book launch: A Choreographer's Handbook by Jonathan Burrows, 2nd edition (Routledge, 2025).
A Choreographer's Handbook was first published in 2010 and has sold over 16,000 copies worldwide and been translated into 6 languages. This new edition gently updates ideas and adds new insights on the choreographic process. The book offers a series of questions inviting the reader to investigate how and why to make a dance performance, looking at ways to balance the many and overlapping elements at play including concept, context, image, form, dramaturgy, materials and daily practice. The ideas in the book are drawn from a multitude of different artists and approaches, gathered by Burrows over many years of collaboration and teaching. It is a book for anyone interested in making performance, at whatever level and in whichever style.
